John McDonnell Tierney, aka “Jack McT” is composer and playwright of The Humanity’s Child Musicals, a four part saga that follows the development of a single character, “Humanity’s Child,” from adolescence to adulthood. The first in the quartet, titled “Peacemaker: The Dream of Humanity’s Child,” premiered Hartford, CT in 2016 to standing ovations. The second, titled “Humanity’s Child: A Musical for Today,” premiered at the 2019 New York Theater Festival where it was nominated for best musical and best direction and then ran for four weeks at the Players Theater Off-Broadway, August-September, 2019. The third musical in the series, titled “Humanity’s Child: More Than a Musical,” premiered as an “Audio-Musical” in May 2020 and was featured on the prestigious Atlanta Audio Fringe Festival through May 2021. The fourth musical in the series, titled; “Extraordinary Hero,” premiered on-line for “Virtual Theater” and played to over 250 people in February 2022 and was streamed on the Rogue Theatre Festival June 30-July 6, 2022 to over 1200 screens nationwide and a trio of his comedies played at the 2023 Festival. Jack's first non-musical "Keepers of the Secret" had a professional “Virtual Staged-Reading” with costumes, props, music, sfx, and scenery on July 2022 and was fully produced for Virtual Theater later that year. And, Jack’s most recent full-length play, “Interview with Archie” was performed live in June of 2023 to enthusiastic audience response. Jack’s current project is a new musical on Democracy, simply titled “Democracy: The Musical” completion anticipated in early 2025. He is a contributing playwright to several on-line theater groups and is an in-demand director and actor as well. Jack works out of his home studio in Heath, Massachusetts where he lives with his wife Patricia and cat Willow.
